China successfully tests a prototype of a magnetic levitation train, accelerating to 600 km / h

A prototype superfast maglev train made its first run on the Shanghai section of the track on Sunday.

Chinese prototype maglev accelerate to 600 km / h and at a distance of up to 1500 km is able to compete with passenger aircraft. Such a tremendous speed is achieved due to the fact that, unlike conventional trains, it does not move on rails, but hangs over electromagnets and actually moves in the air with almost no friction.

The first tests took place on a 1.5-kilometer stretch of track, but, according to the engineers, this was enough for the prototype to cope with all 200 test problems in seven categories..

Despite the successful run, the designers say that the final model of the train will not be released until the end of this year. Even after launch, the Chinese development will not become the fastest maglev, because  previously, the Japanese version on the test track developed a speed of 603 km / h.

Currently, however, attention in this area is attracted by the vacuum train technology, which allows the capsules to accelerate to 1250 km / h. Hyperloop projects are being tested in several countries since 2018.
