Microsoft has warned cryptocurrency owners about new cyber threats
Microsoft’s research arm has warned digital asset owners that their funds in crypto wallets may be at risk due to the new Anubis virus.
The Microsoft Security Intelligence (MSI) team has detected malware that has code similar to the common Android Loki Trojan. Its main function is to steal credentials of cryptocurrency wallets, bank cards and other personal information from Windows users..
MSI tends to think Anubis is a controllable virus, as it originally only appeared in companies that used just a few known download urls and C2 servers.
Currently, the malware is spreading through a number of websites by deceiving visitors. Once loaded, it uses the HTTP POST command to send personal data to monitored servers..
Loki source code used social engineering tools to cheat, therefore, to avoid infection, MSI experts recommend that you do not open attachments in suspicious messages and emails..
Previously, researchers at Microsoft Defender ATP also reported about a new type of malware for hidden mining of cryptocurrencies.
